Berries and Blooms

"The serene philosophy of the pink rose is steadying.  Its fragrant, delicate petals open
fully and are ready to fall, without regret or disillusion, after only a day in the sun. It is
so every summer, One can almost hear their pink, fragrant murmur as they settle down
upon the grass: 'Summer, summer, it will always be summer.'"

My Old Kentucky Home

Weep no more my lady.. Oh, weep no more, today
We will sing one song for the old Kentucky home.
For the old Kentucky home far away.

 Hello everyone.
Today I am having a cup of mint tea in celebration of the Kentucky Derby
and my mother's hometown of Louisville. It is a beautiful city and
Churchhill Downs is always a wonderful place to visit.
 Won't you join me?

Look at this carved wooden horse I found at TJMaxx
a few years ago...He has the sweetest face.

 Mason's teacup. Watteau England.

I found this  Spode transferware plate-
 a Woodland Horses Collection-
Thoroughbred, at Tuesday Morning. It makes a wonderful addition to
my brown and white transferware collection.

This is my favorite pair of Staffordshire dogs. They are
reproductions but I love the detail.

My little beagle figurine just had to get in the picture.
I found him at a gift shop...I think in North Carolina.
 Another sweet face.

Years ago I was at an auction in Connecticut and bid on this tiny silver
teapot and won. It is sterling and the mark is 3 leaves above a shield.

Teacups and Flowers

"When April scatters charms of primrose gold
Among the copper leaves in thickets old,
And singing skylarks from the meadows rise,
To twinkle like black stars in sunny skies;

When I can hear the small woodpecker ring
Time on a tree for all the birds that sing;
And hear the pleasant cuckoo, loud and long --
The simple bird that thinks two notes a song."

- William Henry Davies, April's Charms

Good morning everyone. How was your weekend?
It was beautiful here Saturday and I went to the garden
center and picked up some white Azaleas. They will look so
pretty planted along with my pink ones. I also picked up
a couple more Hydrangea. They are the Endless Summer
variety and those will be planted with the three native
variety, I already have. Today I'm featuring some of my
teacups and pink carnations.

teacup doesn't have a mark. saucer is marked Austria.

The pearls belonged to my MIL.

I found this teacup at a thrift store and the little saucer is Lefton China.

On The Beach at Seabrook Island

"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful,
for beauty is God's handwriting -- a wayside sacrament.
Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every
flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

While on a quilting retreat in March at
Saint Christophers on Seabrook Island,
I took an early morning walk on the beach
and took these photos.

A Blue And White Tea

"Ahh, the wide almond groves in full white flower
Stunning in the morning sun.
Old naked Winter in his garb of grays and browns has run.
Forsythia blooms come and go in the blink of a yellow Eye,
Then, suddenly, mysteriously, Green erupts; and we sigh."

- Michael P. Garofalo, source

This weekend Spring has finally arrived. I'm going to enjoy it while I can
because here, Summer comes way too soon...Hot and humid.
I worked in the garden cleaning it up and planting new rose
bushes and vines. Confederate Jasmine to grow on my arbor.
A Lady Banks and a new Knock-Out Rose- a pretty pink.

Today I'm having tea with some of my blue and white
collection. I've been inspired by two little glass
birds that I found at an antique shop in town.
Their silver color looks so pretty with the blue and white and
They add a little sparkle.
Won't you please join me for a cup of tea?

Photo Inspiration ~ Bread

"The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day.
When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.
But if you so much as dare to speak,
a cloud come over the sunlit arch,
And wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March."

- Robert Frost, Two Tramps in Mud Time, 1926
