Tea on the Porch

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea." -- Henry James, American-born British author, 1843-1916

Spiderwort from my garden..I love the vibrant blue color and the bright yellow stamen.

A new teacup and an old one-Alfred Meakin cup-saucer , Johnson Bros. English Ironstone. Hunting Country Scene.- A cup and saucer from my mothers china-. English Garden Bone China. It has a very delicate pale blue and lavender floral  design. I just noticed that my newest concrete statue looks like it is holding a spray of wisteria.

~Dorothy Francis Gurney

The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth.

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.

 ~Jane Austen

Have a great week.

This post is like a visit to our sweet cottage. I love the tea cup and saucer - tea always tastes better from a proper cup and saucer!

A delightful blue and white tea this week Clara. I enjoyed the quotes and like your pretty garden hat.
I have cut back on the number of spiderworts in my garden for in my soil they travel rapidly. At least they're easy to pull out.

Hi Clara, I enjoyed your post today. I think you are very lucky to have wisteria. I've heard (in our climate) that it's an unreliable bloomer so I haven't purchased any yet...hope to give it a try someday. I like your blog template and music too. Rosewalk Cottage is a serene place to visit. Be blessed!
