As Summer Into Autumn Slips

"As Summer into Autumn slips
And yet we sooner say
"The Summer" than "the Autumn," lest
We turn the sun away,

And almost count it an Affront
The presence to concede
Of one however lovely, not
The one that we have loved --

So we evade the charge of Years
On one attempting shy
The Circumvention of the Shaft
Of Life's Declivity."

~ Emily Dickinson

Hello everyone,
I hope you're having a wonderful Saturday. I have some pinks I want to share for Pink Saturday.

I gathered up some of the last blossoms on my Crepe Myrtle trees and added them to my large  rose pitcher.

Watermelon Crepe Myrtles

Light pink Crepe Myrtles.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great weekend~Clara

Hi Clara, I love your crepe myrtles, pink is my favorite color. They are beautiful in your pitcher.

Gorgeous post. I just love your flowers in the beautiful old pitcher. I see you're a Victoria fan, too ~ don't you just love their books? I have the ones you've posted on your blog and a few more, along with stacks of the old magazine. The original version is my favorite magazine of all time. I'm visiting from Pink Saturday; so happy to have discovered your blog. I'm your latest follower. Pop by for a visit if you get a chance.

Ever so lovely. I do hope I am able to gather some crepe myrtle blossoms next year from my very young trees. Your taste is impeccable.

Beautiful photo choices - nicely done. Don't you just love the frilliness of crepe myrtles?

What a beautifully complex verse by Dickinson.

Happy Pink Saturday! (I'm not posting on PS - just visiting a few).

What a beautiful pitcher - I love anything with roses on. As for the poem it doesn't reflect my feelings at all, I'm always happy to see the end of summer as autumn is my favourite of all the seasons whereas summer is at the bottom of the list:)
