Tea On The Porch With a Good Book

CUP OF TEA

When the world is all at odds
And the mind is all at sea
Then cease the useless tedium
And brew a cup of tea.
There is magic in its' fragrance,
There is solace in its' taste;
And the laden moments vanish
Somehow into space.
And the world becomes a lovely thing!
There's beauty as you'll see;
All because you briefly stopped
To brew a cup of tea.

Hello everyone,  Won't you join me for a cup of tea on the porch? I am spending the weekend at a friends vacation home on the Toogoodoo River near Charleston.  A relaxing birthday weekend with my sweet  hubby and Beau.

I've brought along my book club book...The Beach Trees by Karen White and an old issue of Victoria magazine. There's nothing like relaxing and reading  in a Pawleys Island hammock, taking in the beautiful view of the river.

I found this lovely straw hat at Goodwill and added the ribbon and flowers.
I've had this antique tray for years .

My newest teapot....mark on bottom ( Madison Bay Company)

Lemon poppyseed muffins from the near by grocery store.

This is the sweetest little teacup. It was missing it's saucer and it has some chips...but I love it .  ( no mark on the bottom.)

I love this fork. I found it in the same tea shop as the teapot.

flowers from the grocery store

Beau loved riding in the boat...and so did I.

Thank you for stopping by ~Clara

What a beautiful post and the music on your blog made it more peaceful. I love Charleston, such a great place to visit. Your teacup and pot are lovely. Enjoy your book, I keep all my magazine's and go back from time to time and reread them.

Looks like a peaceful birthday celebration Clara, best wishes. The new tea pot will surely brew enough tea for several friends and to lay in the hammock with a good book sounds ideal.

A delightful tea, which reminds me that I was going to have a cup of chamomile with my cookie. Your tea pot is darling. Red transfer ware is a favorite of mine.

I'd love to join you for a cup of tea on the porch. I'll bring my own copy of that same Victoria magazine and we can read together, sharing bits that inspire us. I hope the joy of your birthday lingers on throughout the week.

I love it that you posted about a tea cup missing its saucer. I saw three teacups i liked the other day at a consignment shop but no saucers. I was trying to think how I could use them without the saucers in a display.

A wonderful weekend for a birthday! I love your hammock and your teapot is wonderful! Your teacup is an Antique Staffordshire, England transferware with an Aesthetic Movement design from the 1870-1880s. A great find! Wonderful photos!

I love your tea on the porch - a cup of tea, beautiful china, a muffin, a good book, a friend, and a river view! perfect! Earlier this year I did an image that also said "tea on the porch" which I sent to my friend across the oceans when life wasn't going so well - it was a virtual tea on the porch.
Have a wonderful week. I am linking up to you through Mosaic Monday.
